Should i change my profession?

Wed Mar 19, 2008, 5:15 AM
well, i actually dont know if should be happy or sad..

it turns out that people like my photography better than my arts. those two pictures i recently submitted have been far more successful than my artworks in the same time, considering the favs you gave 'em. Now you might think that i am a sissy, thinking about changing my profession just because there have been two lucky shots.. But there is a funny coincidence: my photography lecturer at uni told me to think about it!

so do you think its because people can judge photos better and faster than complex digital artworks, or do you think i actually suck at photoshop and that i'd better stick to photography?

seriously, this is a question i am really facing at the moment..
what do you think? and be careful with my pettish soul, or i am gonna raise hell, bitches :D

i think u should stick with what u like.
The question u should be making is what do i want to do in the future? digital art or photography?
thats my opinion =D

I think that your style of digital art is very nice, but it hasn't matured yet if you know what I mean. I think that you would be better as graphic designer, but you just need to work harder at it.

I guess that if you worked more on your digital art you would feel more satisfied. I'm not saying that you don't spend much time creating it, it's just that you should practice more. As for me I really like your digital art.
On the other hand I freakin' love your shots! Maybe you should consider opening another account here on dA, a photography one. I could :hump: you for your photos. haha

exactly.. i think its too late to focus on photography now. i am 26, i spent my whole career (since i am 20 :D) designing and i kinda worked hard establishing my art. i think that i had to spend AT LEAST the same time taking pictures in order to be able to earn a few cents with it sometime..

you are completely right, thanks for your feedback! the thing is, that i feel like its exhausting me in a way that doesnt legitimate the outcome, you know what i mean. i feel like i am putting a lot into it (i mean i am a fulltime student/junior art director, and i find very little time to push my art, unfortunately) and at the same time, sometimes i think that people who are REALLY talented dont feel like they put a lot into it just because they love it more than i do.. it would be very interesting to speak about that aspect and if there are designers who feel like i do every now and than, though they are very successful..
